The Olympic torch relay was rerouted today to avoid protestors.
About 150 placard-carrying protestors gathered on the street along with hundreds of supporters in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. A dozen police on horses quelled the crowd and stopped them from confronting the relay as the path was changed. Canadian crooner Michael Bublé carried the torch last night and said after his run, “The last six or seven, eight years as I’ve gone around the world, the first thing I’ve always said is I was Canadian.” California Governor Arnie Schwarzenegger also carried the torch today in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, to no protest.
