It looks like Psy is ready to take his horse dance out to pasture. The Korean singer has said he’s considering retiring his breakout hit Gangnam Style, which earned him the record for the most views ever on YouTube.
Psy spoke with MTV before his performance in Times Square for Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve on Monday night and said that he was considering making this performance his last of the song, saying “Being in Times Square on New Year’s Eve is already special – it’s the biggest stage in the universe – plus it’s my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the ending of Gangnam Style.”
Though a chart success in his native Korea, Gangnam Style brought Psy worldwide fame and landed him a deal with Scooter Braun, the man responsible for signing Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen. Speaking of Jepsen, if you have one song that people know you for, you keep singing that song, Psy, or else Call Me Maybe could turn into Somebody Please Take My Call.
