O hai, Pussycat Doll founder Robin Antin – why so pleased with yourself?

Is it because your first foray into reality television, and consequent hiring of “new Pussycat Doll” Asia was a roaring success?

No? Ok. Is it because you’re going to milk this series for all it’s worth and make another girl group? That deserves a pat on the back!

Or the ass. You show ‘em, choreographer Mikey.
So, it’s in the bag – there’s no going back. Episode one has ridden off into the sunset and what’s left in the dust? Three sobbing girls, no longer in the running to be America’s Next Top Member of Girlicious.
But let’s rewind. Fifteen girls were chosen from thousands to appear on the show and fight for a spot in Robin’s new group.

Once the girls are broken into 5 groups of 3, the drama begins almost immediately. Charlotte (“I’m so much more mature”) and Natalie (“Charlotte is my biggest competition”) start beefin’ because Charlotte is stuck up and Natalie won’t let Charlotte borrow her boots. Whine, whine, whine. This intolerable situation becomes the A Plot of the entire episode. They suck.
Meanwhile, there’s Jenna, who begins to feel a little “weezy”. One visit to the hospital and one ruptured cyst later, she’s dancing in a wheelchair for a few hours. The girl’s a firecracka.
The groups perform in front of your esteemed panel of judges: Robin, Chairman of Geffen Ron, and Lil Kim to many blank stares and confused expressions. Either the judges are really good at covering their true thoughts or they just realized that there’s no way in hell they’ll get a decent girl group out of this bunch.
In the end, three girls get the boot: one half of the feuding duo in Charlotte, as well as Kristin and Keshia.

And so far, I don’t like anybody! Wee!
Full episode one recap to come tomorrow!
