We haven’t heard Drake talk at much length lately but he recently talked with Entertainment Weekly about working with Rick Ross and Stevie Wonder, a deluxe birthday edition of the album, the influence of ‘Watch The Throne’, and doing it all for the fans. It’s an honest interview and he speaks to a lot of things us fans are probably thinking. It’s a good read and we don’t want to cut it short so read the whole thing at EW.
Hip-hop producer, Hit-Boy, talks with Rap-Up TV about working with Kanye and Jay-Z on ‘Watch The Throne’. Hit-Boy produced “Ni**as In Paris” for the duo which they actually took to Paris to record on the track. The young producer talks working with Kanye in the studio and feeding off his passion for music. He also tells Rap-Up that the song will be the next single off the album and they’re shooting a video for it soon. Watch the interview here.
The Game is probably the happiest man in hip-hop because his fouth LP, ‘The R.E.D. Album’ took Kanye and Jay’s number 1 spot. After seven days on the market The Game moved 97,879 copies. Read more at Rap Radar.
Since announcing he would start his own electronics company in May, 50 cent founded SMS Audio and is very close to releasing his fist set of headphones. Currently, he has three different types of headphones in the making: wired, wireless, and earbuds. Fifty says, “I’m eager for my fans to hear my music the way it was intended – the way it was mastered in the studio.” The headphones will be out this fall. Read more at XXL.
It looks like we’ll be seeing an official music video for “The Knowing” by The Weeknd sometime soon. The Weeknd, who is known for being unknown, has many fan-made music videos but we’re waiting for the real deal. Apparently the official music video is directed by French visual artist/director Mikael Colombu. Colombu was flown in from Paris to Toronto earlier this summer. Mikael Colombu has worked with Cee-Lo Green, Aloe Blacc, and Bilal. Read more at Soul Culture.
