RapCity A.M. News Round Up: Machine Gun Kelly pays fine to stay out of court

August 26th, 2011

After having some fun and inciting a massive crowd gathering (read: riot) for an attempted flash mob, Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly has been given a slap on the wrist… or a fine of several hundreds of dollars. Last weekend MGK encouraged his fans to assemble in costumes at the SouthPark Mall just outside of Cleveland. Thousands showed up, and when he arrived himself, the MC was arrested for disturbing the peace. On Twitter, he addressed the media, writing, “For all the media saying I’m going to court Thursday, etc. etc. Sorry, but I won’t be showing up. I have a show to be at and fans to see.” (Via WEWS 5 News)

Another rapper who got off easy is Game. Despite video footage of the rapper being embroiled in an altercation, police say he won’t be charged for the alleged assault that went down early Tuesday morning in Hollywood. Game went to the Hollywood Police Station and told officers that he didn’t punch anyone, which was backed by eyewitnesses and TMZ’s video. (Via SOHH)

DMX isn’t as lucky. As reported yesterday, the rapper known as Earl Simmons was pulled over and arrested for criminal speeding and driving with a suspended and revoked license. Now he’s denying the speeding charge, saying he didn’t reach the 102 mph speed the police charged him with. As a result, he has contacted his lawyers and plans to file a lawsuit. “I plan on suing and I plan on suing for harassment,” DMX said. “I’m in discussions with multiple lawyers who are not afraid to go against the system in helping me clear my name because I have been harassed.” (Via AllHipHop)

Styles P will release his fourth album, Master of Ceremonies, on October 4th, and has now revealed some of the heavyweights set to make guest appearances. Among the collaborators, Lloyd Banks, Busta Rhymes and Rick Ross have all been confirmed to make cameos. (Via Hip Hop DX)
