RapCity A.M. News Round Up: Soulja Boy documentary on the way

September 28th, 2011

Soulja Boy is the subject of a new documentary. Appropriately titled Soulja Boy – The Movie, the film was directed by Academy Award nominee Peter Spirer, who has made films about Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and the Beef series. About the film, Spirer says, “Soulja Boy is undoubtedly one of the most creative, entrepreneurial hip-hop artists I have ever dealt with. His ability to monetize the internet and his grasp of social media is unparalleled. I think sometimes the press, the public and his peers dismiss him due to lack of understanding or jealousy, and that’s where I hope my film comes in — a straight forward intimate look at a talented young man.” Soulja Boy – The Movie is scheduled for release on October 18th. Pusha T has shown interest in working with Adele. In a recent interview, the Clipse member named her as the one artist he’d like to collaborate with outside of hip-hop. “Yo, I would love to get Adele to sing a hook for me,” he said. “Her music is so strong, man. I haven’t heard that strong of emotion in a song since… I don’t even know what to reference back to. It’s like a whole other level of passion.” (Via Tanning of America)
