Back in April, Odd Future announced a deal with Red Distribution/Sony that gave them their own label they’ve christened, Odd Future Records. Originally, it was thought that the imprint would be an outlet for OFWGKTA’s members, but today the L.A. collective named their first external signing… and it’s a doozy: Young Ni**a. A statement was issued by Odd Future that reads: “While our original intent was not to sign anyone to the label we simply could not pass up the opportunity to sign somebody this talented. Young Ni**a embodies the DIY ethic and persona of Odd Future along with a commercial appeal that transcends demographics.” (Via Pitchfork)
Common has hinted that he and Nas could release a collaborative album at some point. Speaking with Fake Shore Drive, the Chicago MC admitted that Nas was not only his favourite rapper, but also someone he’d like to continue a working relationship with, after the success of their recent single “Ghetto Dreams.” Asked about the likelihood of an album, Common says, “It definitely could be a full-length. I can see that in the future.” (Via Prefix)
50 Cent has revealed on Twitter that he will at some point release a sequel to his 2009 album, Before I Self Destruct. The tweet read: “There will be a BISD II but not before my next album and there is a film connected to it also its crazy watch LMAO.” Fiddy will also release his anti-bullying, semi-autobiographical novel, Playground on November 1st.
