9th Wonder has been very vocal about his thoughts on ‘Watch The Throne’. So far he’s the first artists to go public with his dislike of the album stating it just “wasn’t for him”. 9th went on a little twitter rant saying, among other things, “thank you God for giving me the ability to listen to music objectively, despite how big the artist is. Lemme tell yall something, I am not a follower, never will be, if something is dope, cool, if not, then cool, but I don’t follow. #STANDTALL.” Read more at Rap Radar.
Author and Journalist Soren Baker of the ‘I’m The White Guy’ series, is doing his next book on Jay-Z. The book will be about his encounters with the Jiggaman himself and will feature his interviews from 2000 and 2002. Baker has published over 2,200 over his career. Read more at HipHopDX.
If you bought the deluxe edition of ‘Watch The Throne’ than you get the privilege of owning the featured artwork by Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. Tisci, who served as the album’s creative director, also designed the album’s cover, which unfolds into a cross with Jay-Z and Kanye’s animalist photos. See pictures here and read more at Rap-Up.
‘Watch The Throne’ is projected to sell between 400,000 to 500,000 copies it’s first week. Keep in mind the album is only available on iTunes until the 12th of August when it goes on sale exclusively at Best Buy. After it’s physical release it’s only available until the 22nd. The fact that the album didn’t leak will probably contribute to it’s success. As of right now Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ holds the number 1 spot for 2011 in sales at 1.1 million albums sold.
