Rate The TIFF Red Carpet Looks With #trending!

September 16th, 2011

Another year of the Toronto International Film Festival has come and gone. While there were certainly a bunch of memorable movies, there were also more than a few memorable red carpet moments. Producer Tim and our #trending intern Kim (hey, that rhymes!) decided to list a few TIFF looks that caught their eye…

Is it even possible for Chace Crawford not to wow a crowd? Here for the premiere of Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, it’s clear the Gossip Girl hunk understands fashion. Looking divine in a grey suit and blue tie Chace totally tops Tim’s list by choosing to wear something young and fresh, as opposed to a boring black suit.

Keira Knightley looked down right suave in Elie Saab. The lacy number gathers at all the right places and we love how the belted mid-section shows off her petite frame. This knee length dress is also the perfect cut to highlight her great legs. Oh and can we talk about her matching nude pumps? Totally #trending right now!

Tim, being the Leafs fan that he is, may not agree with Kim on Keira’s other fashion choice: she put on a Montreal Canadiens jersey for a press conference! But as a native Montrealer, intern Kim thinks Kiera’s Habs jersey, while not red carpet ready, is a 10 out of 10. Go Habs, Go!

Stepping out for the Ides of March premiere Brad and Angelina rocked the black on black look. It’s sort of their signature look right? Angelina paired a Vivienne Westwood Couture dress with her own jewelry line (all proceeds from the collection go to helping children living in areas affected by conflict or natural disasters). Mr. Pitt looked dashing in his white shirt, black tux and knitted tie. Sigh…so handsome!

Brad wasn’t the only one looking dapper in a suit. Evan Rachel Wood dressed to impress in a Dolce & Gabbana pinstripe suit complete with hat. What really struck us about her ensemble was the unfortunate bruise on the Ides of March star’s lip (a memento from a night out in Paris and a run in with a dancer’s elbow. At least her tooth has now been replaced). But don’t you think her makeup artist could’ve at least covered it up? I mean, it’s the red carpet!

Known for her role in Kick-Ass, Chloe Moretz kicks ass in this Valentino dress. A lot of people were talking about how the look is inappropriate for the 14-year-old. We think it works just fine. The length isn’t outrageously short and the leather bottom makes for a sophisticated-chic finish. The only faux pas here is we’re just now recognizing her fashion capabilities!

We barely recognized Jonah Hill after his recent slim down! He looks so different right? And it seems the Moneyball actor definitely exuded more confidence in this sleek black suit and tie. Slim and stylish? Definitely #winning!

TIFF’s IT Boy, Ryan Gosling, had two films at the festival— Drive and The Ides of March— and he nailed both red carpet looks (so, we had to include the two). The home-grown talent makes not wearing a tie look SO good, producer Tim no longer sees the need for it!

The white Marchesa gown Olivia Wilde wore for the premiere of Butter would be better suited to Ancient Greece….or your grandmother’s curtains. At certain angles the dress does its job and looks stunning, but overall it does nothing for her svelte figure.

Jamie Campbell Brown’s Twilight alter ego Caius wouldn’t be caught spending eternity wearing this. TIFF isn’t the Oscars, leave the jeans at home. At least he got the memo about polka dots being in for fall…sort of… Maybe he’s trying to copy Twilight co-star Robert Pattison’s former bedhead look. But, comb your hair or we’ll send the Volturi after you!

Those are OUR picks for the looks that stood out (whether good or bad). Now we want to hear from YOU: Did you catch any premieres? Meet some celebs? See any good or bad red carpet fashion? Tweet us @trendingtheshow.
