It’s not surprising that L.A.’s hip hop crew Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All have a new television show that was recently picked up by Adult Swim. The television show, entitled “Loiter Squad” will be 15 minutes long and will feature the group doing “sketches, man on the street segments, pranks and, naturally music…” It will be similar to “Jackass” because it’s being produced by the same production company, Dickhouse Entertainment, which consists of Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze. Lil Wayne has made Hip Hop history by having a total of 11 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart. 8 of those 11 singles are off of his ninth studio album, Tha Carter IV which was released on August 29, 2011. Taylor Swift and David Cook have also achieved this feat, yet the Beatles still hold the prize for having 14 singles on the Hot 100 chart at one time. (Via Hip Hop DX)
Robert Earl Davis, AKA DJ Screw is best known for his “chopped and screwed” method, which influenced Southern hip-hop. Even though he passed away in 2000, his legend will live on at the University of Houston Libraries. His father Robert Earl Davis Sr. donated about 1000 albums that DJ Screw owned and used, which will be ready to view in 2013. On March 19, 2012 the albums will be apart of a new exhibit called, DJ Screw and the Rise of Houston Hip-Hop. (Via 29-95)
As was reported yesterday, T.I. was sent back to prison. Today, his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle has released a few statements about her husband’s incarceration. She believes that T.I. has been treated unfairly because of his celebrity status and “that there are way more dangerous and carefree [celebrities] that get slapped on the wrist and sent on their way.” T.I. will be released from prison in a few weeks.
