Need to know: Born and raised in Louisiana and Missouri, Julianna Barwick calls the pastoral environment of her youth one of her key influences. Her minimal arrangements are built mostly around vocal loops and soaking them in delay and reverb with some slight instrumentation. The Magic Place marks her debut for her new label, Asthmatic Kitty.

Via Twitter: With only her voice + some effects, Barwick has produced an ethereal LP rich with beguiling melodies that radiate a fixed transcendent vibe.
