Need to know: Ponytail consists of Molly Siegel on vocals, Ken Seeno and Dustin Wong on guitar, and Jeremy Hyman on drums. Hailing from Baltimore, MD, the eccentric four-piece features characteristically harsh and abstract textures, a frantic feel good energy, and idiosyncratic vocals – no, actually I think they are better described as mutterings. With an “anything goes” attitude, Ponytail make it seem like they are having more fun than everyone else, combined. They released Kamehameha in 2007 but it was 2008’s Ice Cream Spiritual that was a breakout album for the group. Despite hinting at a breakup for the past few months, their third album Do Whatever You Want All The Time is out now.

Via Twitter: On this album, Siegel actually utters a few words instead of her usual gibberish, making their noise pop more frenetic and bizarre than ever.

Sample: “Do Whatever You Want All The Time”

RIYL: Abe Vigoda, Deerhoof, Dan Deacon, Marnie Stern
