The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Belong
(Slumberland)
A-
Need to know: This Brooklyn based quartet consists of Kip Berman (vocals, guitar), Peggy Wang (vocals, keyboards), Alex Naidus (bass) and Kurt Feldman (drums). After releasing their highly praised self-titled debut album in 2009, the band established themselves as ones to look out for. Now they have just released their sophomore LP, Belong, produced by Flood and mixed by Alan Moulder, who have collaborated with several internationally successful acts like Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, The Smashing Pumpkins, U2, My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and many others. As if that collaboration wasn’t enough to hype up Belong, the track “Young Adult Friction” was featured on a recent episode of 90210, helping to make the album one of the most anticipated indie releases of the year.
Via Twitter: Belong is an impressive pastiche of all the best 90s alternative bands distilled into one bold, endearing and melodic album.
Sample: “Heart in Your Heartbreak”
RIYL: Wild Nothing, Smith Westerns, Girls, Tennis
