Thurston Moore
Demolished Thoughts

Need to know: One of the most accomplished and recognizable figures in underground music, Thurston Moore really needs no introduction. As the co-singer/songwriter/guitarist for Sonic Youth, he has spent the last 30 years at the forefront of the no wave, experimental, alternative and independent music movements. Known for his unique approach to guitar playing alongside his bandmate Lee Ranaldo, as much as Moore is recognized for his work in Sonic Youth, he’s also known for his work over the years as an improviser, collaborator, soundtrack composer, producer, author or a label boss (he founded Ecstatic Peace!). His first solo album was 1995’s Psychic Hearts, which was followed by 2007’s Trees Outside the Academy. Demolished Thoughts finds him working with long-time friend and collaborator Beck, who assumes the role of producer. Read more about it here in this colourful artist bio.
Via Twitter: Moore’s organic ballads find peace & harmony w/ Beck’s exquisite arrangements. A surprisingly tender LP, it rivals the best work of either.
Sample: “Benediction”
RIYL: Sonic Youth, Beck’s Sea Change, J Mascis’ Several Shades of Why, Samara Lubelski
