After last week’s collab with Jay-Z and Dr. Dre, Rick Ross‘ collaboration with Andre 3000 is another highly anticipated track off God Forgives, I Don’t. With production very similar to Stankonia, “Sixteen” sounds like a mid-70s James Bond soundtrack. Ross drops retro lines recalling Cream’s Eric Clapton and the Bulls’ Scottie Pippen. ‘Dre completes the nostalgia trip by saying “all the things that seemed cool just ain’t cool anymore.” The track is an epic 8 minutes long but feels significantly shorter. The blues guitar solo which surprises us at the end of the track sounds like they hired Albert King for the session. Perhaps this is some inspiration from 3000′s latest project, a starring role in a Jimi Hendrix biopic.
