Last month we told you that the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch is working on a short film about the trio’s legendary video “Fight For Your Right (To Party)” and how there were a few of A-list names attached to it. Now we know that the number of famous names has ballooned in to a lot.
In an interesting twist, two different actors will play each of the Beastie Boys in some capacity: Elijah Wood and Will Ferrell will be Ad-Rock, Danny McBride and John C. Reilly will be MCA, and Seth Rogen and Jack Black will be Mike D. Over at IMDb, the actors are listed as either “B-Boys 1″ or “B-Boys 2″ so we’re expecting some kind switcheroo to happen at some point in the flick.
If that hasn’t knocked your socks off, then how about the supporting cast? Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci will play the parents of the nerds, while Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, David Cross, Laura Dern, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler,Jason Schwartzman, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Steve Buscemi, Chloë Sevigny, Milo Ventimiglia, Alicia Silverstone, Martin Starr, Ted Danson, Rashida Jones, and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills will all have roles.
And yes, the Beasties will also make cameos as police officers.
Fight for Your Right Revisited premieres this week at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. It will also serve as the music video for “Make Some Noise,” which will be on the upcoming Beastie Boys album, Hot Sauce Committee, pt 2.
