Rapper Riff Raff recently posted a remix he did of buddy Drake’s hit single, Started From the Bottom. On the track, he sings/raps for two minutes over the song’s beat, adding his own flair – and trust us, he’s got lots of flair – to the song.
Just check it out below [Warning: coarse language]:
This is just one of the many Drake pairings we can only dream of, though. So we are now going to present you our top 5 dream Drake collaborations. Some of these might have happened already, in some capacity, and some could be in the works or waiting for us on the rapper’s upcoming album, Nothing Was the Same (out September 24th). Let us know if we missed anyone on our list and who you’d love to see the rapper step in the studio with!
1. Riff Raff + Drake + Justin Bieber
We know all three of them are friends (just see the Vine below) and Drake has either shared a stage – or remix now – with both artists, but can you imagine ALL THREE OF THEM TOGETHER? Our heads would explode. With joy.
2. Drake + Taylor Swift
Did you see them at the MTV Video Music Awards? They are totally in love and would make such beautiful music together. Drake’s lonely verses with Swift’s ex-boyfriend rants equals complicated-feelings heaven.
3. Drake + Kanye West
The pair recently shared the stage at Drake’s annual OVO Fest in Toronto, squashing any rumours of the two having beef with each other. In an interview with E!, Drake even adds that “I know me and ‘Ye could do some crazy sh-t together.” Yes, please. ASAP.
4. Drake + James Blake
Drake hasn’t been shy about his love of English artist, James Blake, even inviting him to perform at OVO Fest this year. It was revealed later on that Blake will indeed make an appearance on Nothing Was the Same, making it one of our most anticipated collaborations of the year. For those unfamiliar with Blake’s work, watch the following and make sure to pick your jaw back up afterwards (also, yes, he kinda rocks a young-Justin Bieber hairdo, it totally adds to the appeal):
5. Drake + Marvin Gaye
In another recent interview, Drake revealed that he aspired to be the modern day Marvin Gaye. “I have aspirations to be Marvin Gaye in the back of my head,” he tells MTV News. “So I just want to sing the world’s triumphs and problems on one record and hopefully ‘Nothing Was The Same’ [can be] the soundtrack to their life.” Look, technology can make this happen. We brought Tupac back as a hologram and Aaliyah is collaborating with Chris Brown, anything is possible.
