Rihanna has been named one of the Women Of The Year by Glamour Magazine.
The singer was honoured Monday night in New York for taking a public stand on domestic violence. Other honourees included first lady Michelle Obama, tennis star Serena Williams and comedian Amy Poehler.
At the awards, Rihanna touched on her recent interview with 20/20 and her plans to move on with her music.
RiRi told Reuters: “I just wanted to tell my story so that people can get inspired by it in any way possible, and also that people can move on from that situation and my name, that was the last big thing people heard of me and so kind of tagged along so I just wanted to get that out of the way so that I can move on with my music and have a clear path and a clear vision of exactly what I want to do which is music.”
It has been reported that calls to the U.S. National Domestic Helpline went up over 50 per cent after Rihanna’s 20/20 interview aired.
