Rihanna’s supporting Chris Brown. Yup. You read that right. In a recent interview with Esquire magazine, Rihanna openly declared she’s happy for Chris Brown’s success. The same Chris Brown who’s serving a 5-year probation for assault against Rihanna from the night of the 2009 Grammy Awards. That guy.
But Rihanna does explain her comments. “It was too much anger…I’m really excited to see the breakthrough he’s had in his career,” she says in the interview.
Brown’s first album since the assault (Graffiti) flopped, but his current album (F.A.M.E.) reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart when it was released in March – it has since reached Gold Status in sales, plus his songs have been charting on music countdowns everywhere.
“It’s incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know?” his ex says about his current success. “I really like the music he’s putting out. I’m a fan of his stuff. I’ve always been a fan.”
Rihanna is also releasing a new album next month titled “Talk That Talk“.
