Infusing a North American sound with her UK roots, Roc Nation’s newest artist Rita Ora collaborated with London born rapper Tinie Tempah on her debut single R.I.P., written by Toronto’s own Drake. In R.I.P. Ora sings about a new love leaving his old relationship behind to be with her. The video features Ora in a variety of looks while singing in front of chopped up cars inside of what looks an abandoned warehouse.
While in the UK on tour, Drake spoke with London radio station KISS FM about his relationship with Ora, saying “One of the greatest gifts I ever received in my whole life—I wear it every day—is this ring right here. They tried to talk about this ring the other day and say I got married to somebody, which I didn’t. Rita actually gave me this ring. We’re dear friends.”
Drizzy also opened up to the radio station about his initial intentions for Rita’s latest single, saying “‘R.I.P.’ is a song that I originally wrote for Rihanna. Rihanna actually didn’t take the song. I think it was for [Loud] and Rita expressed interest in it and anything I can do for Rita, I will do.”
While I’m sure Rihanna would have made R.I.P. a hit, from the look and sound of the video below I don’t think Rita will have any problem’s filling her shoes at the mic.
