Robyn Is Back

Oh yeah she is!

OK, I know a LOT of you are probably asking: who the heck is Robyn?? Well, allow me to refresh your memory - she’s a Swedish pop star who scored a couple of really big hits in the late ’90’s (Do You Know What It Takes, Show Me Love). You couldn’t escape her for much of 1997, she was ALL over the radio and MuchMusic.

But the interesting thing about Robyn is she pretty much paved the way for Britney Spears‘ success, and she was the first in that late ’90’s tidal wave of young, blonde pop stars. But then, just as soon as she shot to the top, she vanished! I haven’t heard so much as a peep about her in almost a decade, although she remained a pretty big star in her native Sweden.

So imagine my surprise when I surfed by Perez Hilton yesterday and came across Robyn’s NEW video!! I couldn’t believe it. Talk about blast from the past! And, after brushing up on Robyn’s bio on Wikipedia, it looks like she’s poised for a Kylie Minogue-style comeback! Her TOTALLY ADDICTIVE new single With Every Heartbeat is making a HUGE splash over in Europe, and now that Perez is talking about her it’s probably only a matter of time before Robyn makes her way back on the North American charts too!

Seriously - watch the video, LISTEN to that song, and tell me it’s not the stuff that pop dreams are made of!

  2. What a bizarre song. It doesn’t follow any conventional formula. I can’t really pinpoint actual verses and choruses. But I must say I do enjoy it and I’m sure there will be remixes galore to which a song like this lends itself well.

  8. I remember waiting in line for hours infront of Sam The Record Man to meet her back in 1997, and when I got to the front of the line, they said no more autographs. :( But I still got to meet her.

    I just want to say, she has the exact same haircut as back in the 90s. lol

  11. I downloaded several new songs from Robyn on iTunes and my favorite is “Konichiwa Bitches”. Also, “Jack You Off” is a fun little diddy!
