Run-DMC to get their own musical

Run-DMC are getting their own musical.

Joseph Simmons (Run) and Darryl McDaniels (DMC) are currently working with the estate of the late Jason Mizell (Jam Master Jay) and producer Paula Wagner on a stage production about their life in Run-DMC.

Wagner told the New York Times that the combination of the rap pioneers’ story, music and influence will prove to be the perfect stuff for Broadway.

“Their lyrics and their music is infectious,” she said. “It’s vibrant, it’s alive. Who they are and what they did was a culturally defining moment. It embraced everybody.”

Wagner also said that as well as all of the classics, Simmons and McDaniels could also be providing new, unheard music.
