World Aids Day is observed internationally on December 1 and this year I decided to really get involved. I recently had the opportunity to cover a story on The Stephen Lewis Foundation, which is a charitable organization that helps people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. This year the foundation has been pairing up with musicians like k-os, Federal NDP leader Jack Layton, The Hour’s George Stromboulopoulos, Olympic gold medalist Duff Gibson and many other Canadians, daring them to do something for Africa. The campaign, titled A Dare to Remember, sees Canadians performing various dares for HIV/AIDS affected families in Africa.
I Love this idea, obviously.
I’ve never been one to turn down a dare…..especially for a good cause. Somehow I really felt like dressing up as Reindeer with Jesse Giddings and singing Christmas carols at the top of our lungs was the best way to contribute, so that’s EXACTLY what we did.
I DARE YOU to do your own dare - you can do anything you want and you can sign up here. And you can also contribute to my dare by clicking here.
