Sarah: Zoobilie Zoo …

January 11th, 2008

Or: Just because it was the year after John Lennon was assassinated doesn’t mean my kind of 80s baby point of view can’t still be as warm and fuzzy as I allow.

I’ve finally found it. I often think that the wildest, most colourful and charming memories in my head must have been manufactured by me in a fit to feel comfortable with myself, and finally I have proof.

If you were born in the eighties you were probably raised by television too, and if you weren’t and your parents had enough sense to eliminate hours of TV watching from their babysitting regimen then I’m not really talking to you. Come to think of it I don’t really want to. No offense.

The point is that Zoobilie Zoo is real and not a figment of my imagination which means a lot to me. It means that I still have sufficient disc space left in my head, all television can’t be bad (right? Ironic smirk here), and my childhood was definitely as rich, warm and brilliant as I have always imagined.

This show was even more fun than the hours I spent playing with Barbie caravans and imagining that He-Man and She-Ra would one day deny their roles as brother and sister only to fall in love and create perfect offspring. I listened to a lot of Michael Jackson as a child.

Anyways thanks again Mom, and here you go.
