September 13th, 2013
We’re midway through September and the new music is coming fast and furiously. This week we saw releases from 2 Chainz, The Weeknd, Kaskade and we got a new video from Arcade Fire. And it doesn’t stop there. We still have releases from Drake, Justin Timberlake and Avicii to look forward to, so it’s safe to say this is a heavy month. We’ll touch on some of those artists but it’s Friday the 13th so let’s get a little dark. Electro is moody this week with an exceptional set of releases from my favorite DJ Fake Blood’s label, Blood Music. Let’s go!
When an artist releases an EP through Fake Blood’s label Blood Music there’s a specific sound that accompanies it. Dark. Whether it be releases from Lebreton, Bowski, Ado, Boy 8 Bit or whoever, they all create similar atmospheres through their music. I personally love it.
Yesterday Festival Girlfriend released two tracks that are scary good. As expected they share that dark Blood Music vibe. Take an hour and get lost in these tracks.
Bonus Blood Music:
Moving along, Mau5Trap’s Feed Me is back at it with a new release. When I think of Feed Me, I think of Fat Beats with punchy kicks and layered strings. I’m not 100% sure what label this track is going to be released on but the sound remains the same. The distortion in this song gives it a depth that resonates in your chest. Can’t wait to hear this at a show.
Bonus Tracks from Feed Me
We’ve all been patiently waiting for Nothing Was The Same by Drake and we are almost at the magical date of September 24th. But will we actually have to wait that long? The first leak has dropped and it’s the song I really wanted to check out when I saw the tracklist. Wu Tang Forever is Drake in a nutshell. Some singing, some rapping, and all with a hidden meaning that is blatantly obvious. The more I listen to it, the more I love it.
This track isn’t new, in fact it was released earlier this summer when Fabolous dropped by NML. But a video has now accompanied the track and it can’t be slept on. Consistency, that is the best way to describe Fabolous.
For EDM junkies it’s all about Avicii this week. I’ve been lucky enough to get an advanced copy of True and it comes as advertised: Big room songs from start to finish. There’s a heavy folk/country presence on the album that may or may not benefit him. Only time will tell. But today we received two exclusive bonus tracks off of the album and they are both journeys. Enjoy the trip.
Bart B More released a beast of a track yesterday. He took on Skip & Dies’ Senorita and flipped it upside down. It has a big room feel but still feels like it’s made for a proper sweat pit in a dungeon. The track goes hard from the start and the vocals tend to amplify the vibe. Cop this!!
I got no words for this. How can one possibly make a Pharrell beat better? Kaytranada somehow figured it out. Twerk.
Does Future ever take a day off? Apparently not. Free Bandz!
New Music. It’s what we do.Tweet
