August 22nd, 2013
We are approaching the end of summer and while I can already hear the groans and aches as we head to another school year, I also hear a ton of good music that is being released just in time for Fall. Of course, we have The Weeknd’s album to look forward to on the 10th and the OVO general, Drake, has an album dropping on the 24th. September looks proper! However, summer is not all over yet. I will be at SummerAid Music Festival this week in Grand Bend and I’m excited to hear all of the Canadian acts that will be playing. So let’s showcase some of those artists with my picks for today’s blog.
DVBBS ft. Borgeous – “Tsunami”
Headlining SummerAid festival will be the DJ duo from Toronto who currently have the biggest song in the world. After this song was dropped at Tomorrowland by everyone from Guetta to Tiesto to Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike, everyone was wondering who produced it. That honor goes to the Canadians. This will flip your lid.
Check out how it looked when Vegas and Mike dropped it at Tomorrowland. Rage!
Keys N Krates – “Dum Dee Dum”
A group that has been getting a lot of love around the world is Keys N Krates. I was lucky enough to interview these guys a couple years ago and you could see there ambition level was high. Since then, they have received countless plays on radio stations everywhere from Tokyo to London to New York. They will be one of the spectacles to witness live (the best way to enjoy their music) this weekend in Grand Bend.
Proper Villians – “Cape Fear”
How bout some dub? Proper Villains have taken the sample of Robert De Niro from Camp Fear and given it a little more horror. This track grips you from the start and takes you on a ride. The only problem is that it’s too short. Hoping for an extended version very soon!
O’Donis – “Lean”
Let’s slow it down just a touch and get into a new one from Colby O’donis. Yup, that’s right, you heard correct. The man who was featured on Lady Gaga’s first hit is back in the studio but this time he’s dropped the Colby from his name. This tune is perfect for the end of the club when you’re looking to scoop up your main squeeze and bring ‘em back to the crib. Ladies, you’ll enjoy this one.
Avicii – “You Make Me”
Avicii will be in our country at the end of September and fans lucky enough to attend the show will have an abundance of new tunes to rock to. Tim Berg has dropped yet another big room anthem as we wait for his album, True, to drop on September 23. “You Make Me” is exactly what you would expect from the Swede: hard, quick and polished. I can’t wait for this album!
New Music. It’s what we do.
