Back to school already? I know, I know, there’s still a full long weekend ahead of us but the daunting prospect of 9 or so months in the classroom is a shitstorm heading our way. But it’s not all bad! Let’s look at it as if the cup is half full. You’ve had an incredible summer of new music! Yeezus, Vampire Weekend, Jay, Daft Punk, they all dropped new albums. It’s safe to say we’ve been pretty spoiled. Plus, there’s a ton of new music that’s just been released that’s sure to turn your back-to-school parties up. Here are a few joints that’ll be at the top of your playlist for that first walk on campus.
Josh Butler – “Got A Feeling” (Bontan Remix, Pleasurekraft Edit)
If you remix a remix, what does that make it? Proper is the answer I believe you’re looking for. Pleasurekraft have taken Bontan’s remix of Josh Butler’s “Got A Feeling” and gave it a groovy vibe with their subtle yet profound edit. This feels like it dropped back in ‘06 with its deep house, early morning vibe. I think you’ll dig this a lot!
Pusha T – “Sweet Serenade” ft. Chris Brown (Prod. by Swizz Beatz)
Yuuuuuuuck! Norfolk’s finest is back on his grizzy with a new joint produced by Swizz Beatz. All eyes are on Pusha T as we await the release of his solo album My Name is My Name (October 8th). If the album sounds anything like this joint then we’re in store for a classic. Chris Brown supplies the hook as Push puts down the lyrical content we’ve come to expect.
Camo & Krooked – “All Night”
Where have I been on this joint?! The Austrian duo known as Camo & Krooked are Drum ‘n’ Bass royalty. They seem to do no wrong. Simply put they represent the very best of Hospital Records (1 of the best labels in the world) and they seem to stay away from the tired and typical DnB and make trendsetting sounds. This joint, which I received from a friend titled “The Best Song of Summer,” has got me raving upon every presage of play. Turn this sucka up!
Bonus Camo & Krooked, my fav joint from the duo!
Brodinski – “Gimme Back The Night”
One thing you may or may not know about me is that I’m obsessed with French Electro. Artists like Daft Punk, Justice, Sebastien, Cassius, Breakbot, Sebasatien Leger, Busy P and Mehdi have influenced my music taste in more ways than I can explain. The top of that list for me is Brodinski and Gesaffelstein. These two DJ’s are some of the most forward thinking minds in Electro. Anytime one of these two drops something new I’m the first in line to check it out and very rarely do they disappoint. This new installment of the Bromance series (the label/series that Brodinski releases EPs through) features Theophilus London’s vocals on a beat that is made for the clubs. Check this preview out and get ready for the release next week. Massive!
Check him throwing it down at the Bromance Party in LA.
You mean to tell me I’ve been throwing blog posts at you every Thursday and I haven’t included a throwback section? What a moron! Well that’s about to change…
Kill The Noise- “Dying” Feat. Ultraviolet Sound & Emily Hudson
The name Kill The Noise has been on a lot of tongues lately. With the release of his massive banger “Jump Ya Body,” he’s turned back in to somewhat of a cult icon. For those of you who may be new to the dubstep face-melter, I have an old school goodie that will bring you up to speed in a heartbeat. Try this out!
