This week I was lucky enough to chat music with two hip hop heavyweights: Wale and J. Cole. I’ve been wanting to talk music with J. Cole ever since Cole World but especially ever since he released his track “Villuminati,” where he talks about being a rap nerd and buying Rah Diggas album. That line had me jumping out of my seat because for the longest time I thought I was the only person who copped that album, which I still believe has bangers on it. After five minutes of just talking about the album off camera we dove into where he stands on the hip hop game today. Be sure to look out for that interview coming soon on MUCH.
There’s a ton of new music to get to and with this blog post we touch on all genres. Lehhhgo!
It feels like everyone’s finally giving Pusha T the respect he deserves. For the longest time this guy wasn’t on the radar of most rap fans, but now the praise is being given to the Norfolk General as he dropped My Name is My Name earlier this week. The album isn’t feel good rap, as if Push could release music like that, it’s gritty, raw, and real. What makes this special is that the production on the beats is top notch. I would heavily respect the Grammys if they decided that this album should get a nomination.
We also saw new releases from Danny Brown and Cam’ron this week. D. Browns A Trak produced beat is a club banger and Cam’s mixtape is a must cop for all Dipset fans as he brings his flow back from the dead. And if you want get ratchet, we got some new Glory Boys for you. 300 Hundred!
Pusha T – “S.N.I.T.C.H.” ft. Pharrell (MNIMN)
Timbaland just released a brand new snippet for Timbaland Thursdays featuring Pusha T.
Timbaland ft. Pusha T
Cam’ron – “Told You Wrong”
Danny Brown – “Smokin & Drinkin” (Produced by A-Trak & JMIKE)
Chief Keef – “Rider” ft. Wiz Khalifa
Maybe soul isn’t the right category. You’re not going to find any Motown (although a Motown blog needs to be done soon) but you will find tracks that will touch the depths of your soul. I’m still receiving a ton of tweets from my Fave New Artists Todays Top Ten show and these people want to know what track Number 10 was. So I’ve given you all the Banks you need. Added joints from Jon Waltz (heavily digging his track) and a track I recently came across from Valentin Stip that will sink into your eardrums. Plus the amazing Sia.
BANKS – “This Is What It Feels Like”
BANKS – “Warm Water” (Produced by TEED)
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – “Tapes & Money”
Jon Waltz – “Bang (Left My Home)” (Produced by Zayd)
Valentin Stip – “Nwia”
In case you didn’t hear, this song is…ya.
Sia – “Elastic Heart” ft. The Weeknd & Diplo
Save the best for last? Well, that’s for you to decide. We have a mixed bag of electronic joints this week. Everything from the dark and meticulous Deadmau5 (since the breakup with Kat his music has been top class) to the heavily up tempo party banger from Bombs Away, and everything in between, including a heater from Oliver Nelson.
Deadmau5 – “Avaritia”
Sub Focus – “Safe In Sound”
Keljet – “Together” ft. AVAN LAVA (Oliver Nelson Remix)
Oliver – “Night Is On My Mind” (Dillon Francis Remix)
Bombs Away – “Better Luck Next Time”
Pleasurekraft – “Sinister Strings”
Krewella – “Human” (Dotcom Remix)
New Music. It’s what we do.
