Just like Taylor Swift did on her most recent tour, pop star Selena Gomez has taken time on her current tour to squeeze in a number of cover songs into her set. After successfully tackling songs from Iggy Azalea and Lorde, Gomez most recently took on Katy Perry’s latest hit, Roar.
Of course, in the world of cover songs, though, what comes around goes around so we’ve decided to break down a trail of covers that go from Selena to Katy, from Beyonce to Amy Winehouse. Follow to clips and see how this all goes back around to Selena at the end!
To start off: Selena Gomez covered Katy Perry’s Roar:
Katy Perry used to do a cabaret cover of Beyonce’s Halo on her tour:
Beyonce teamed up with Outkast’s Andre 3000 to cover Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black for the Great Gatsby soundtrack this past summer:
The late Amy Winehouse collaborated with Paul Weller in 2006 during a New Year’s Eve special to cover Etta James’ Don’t Go To Strangers:
A number of other powerhouse vocalists have covered Etta James as well, including this Christina Aguilera rendition of the soul singer’s classic hit, At Last:
Of course we all remember when Christina Aguilera joined forces with Pink, Mya, Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott to perform Patti LaBelle’s Lady Marmalade:
Pink has also collaborated with Christina’s old frenemy Britney Spears (and Beyonce) for a Pepsi commercial where they covered Queen’s We Will Rock You (as Enrique Iglesias watched?):
And who did we recently feature in a post about Britney Spears covers? SELENA GOMEZ!
