Miley, Charlie and more!
February 21st, 2014
Pharrell alerted us earlier this week that he will be dropping a new album entitled G I R L on March 3. So, really soon. And now we also have a tracklist for the album and yes, it’s just as star-studded as you thought it would be: Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys are all on the artist/producer’s upcoming release and even though we are floored with all of these big-named collabs, we can’t help but think that Pharrell missed out on a few people…
Take a look at the tracklisting below and then see who we think is questionably MIA from G I R L.
01. Marilyn Monroe
02. Brand New feat. Justin Timberlake
06. Come Get It feat. Miley Cyrus
07. Gust of Wind feat. Daft Punk
08. Lost Queen
10. You Know Who You Are feat. Alicia Keys
11. It Girl
Pharrell was just one of many artists who pitched in to help Beyonce with her latest self-titled album and how ***Flawless would it be if Beyonce returned the favour by appearing on Pharrell’s album, right? Sigh, Beyonce just makes everything better (not that we don’t have high hopes for G I R L already!).
The rap group made a notable appearance in Pharrell’s Happy music video, but we were hoping for that visual collaboration to turn into an in-studio one.
Cosgrove also appeared in the Happy video and how random and awesome would this have been, amirite?
Pharrell is credited as a producer on Kendrick Lamar’s breakout album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City and part of us was definitely hoping for another dope collab on G I R L, but alas!
The two teamed up on one of 2013′s biggest singles, Blurred Lines, so we just naturally assumed Pharrell and Robin Thicke would try to repeat their success again this year. Thankfully, Daft Punk is slated to make an appearance on this album, though, so let’s hope they can continue their winning streak there!
Pharrell’s latest collab was with producer Diplo’s project Major Lazer and we were even ready to call it his next big hit. So it’s a bit disappointing when we saw Diplo’s name missing from G I R L’s tracklist. At least we have Aerosol Can!
The infamous Grammy hat is now being auctioned off for charity, but he totally deserves to make an appearance on this record, no? What do you mean hats can’t sing or contribute to one’s music? WE DISAGREE.
