The king of covers

Shay Mitchell may be a glam Hollywood girl now, but she returns to her home of Canada to cover the upcoming issue of Elle Canada!
In the interview, the actress discusses her humble beginnings as a waitress in Toronto, her Filipino background and her crazed Mitchies fans.
On being a waitress, the magazine wrote: “When they started filming the show in L.A., her friend from Toronto sent her a picture of the subway station Mitchell had walked through every day to get to her waitressing job. It was lined with Pretty Little Liars posters. She cried.”
Mitchell on being Filipino: “All my friends were blond and blue-eyed. My mom is Filipino—but my friends’ nannies were Filipino,” she says, explaining the reason why she dyed her hair blond and bought coloured contact lenses when she was younger. But when she was scouted to become a model, she admits, “I was getting cast because I didn’t look like anyone else.”
Mitchell on “Mitchies”: “Growing up, I don’t know if I really had those kinds of feelings about stars—maybe for Jonathan Taylor Thomas,” she says. “So when they start to cry, it’s hard.” She also says that there are a few fans who even have her named tatooed on them.
