On Monday, season two of Skins, one of my top five current TV shows (the others being Californication, The L Word, Lost and Dexter) premiered in the UK, and I have to say, I am PUMPED about the upcoming season. We finally get to see what the outcome of the finale of season one is (if I’m speaking in extreme generalities here it’s because I don’t want to spoil anything, since you MUST watch this show), and it continues to be awesome.
If you haven’t already seen the show, season one is now available on DVD at Amazon UK. Or should I say “series” one. Personally, I bought mine on eBay…so there are many ways for you to get your hands on it.
The music in the season two premiere was amazing as usual. You’ll recall that there’s a companion CD to the music from season one, and the trailer for season two (which didn’t really give anything away) featured an instrumental version of Radiohead’s Nude.
Anyway, the show’s new official site, skinslife.com, is going to be posting a companion music guide to each episode. Each post has embedded samples of the songs featured in the episode, along with a blurb about the song itself and where/why it was used. Episode 1’s is here, and it featured music by Feist, Grizzly Bear, Tunng (!) and Asobi Seksu.
The episode ends with a song that I absolutely adore by Asobi Seksu called Thursday. And the scene that it plays in is PERFECT. It’s just the most absolutely perfect moment to play it.

Yep - it came out in September on .co.uk.
Oooh - I do think mine is a Euro region only DVD. However, I bought an all region DVD player at “The Source” for $40. So it might be worth the investment if you buy a lot of international DVDs!
Otherwise, you can watch it on a computer’s DVD drive…
Never even knew there was a season one.
Praise it sister!
My favorite UK show bar none. Their music supervisor is top notch as well.
Gaby: You need an all-regions DVD player as UK DVDs are region 2.
You can find an all-regions player on the cheap side at Best Buy or Future Shop.
My friend in the UK got me hooked on Skins last year. I loved it. The characters are raw, real, and just funny. I wished they would show it here since we have BBC Canada now.
I was so happy to see the gang back. And that Maxi has a bigger role was great too! They are all amazing! My favourite part was the Cake of Remorse!
How did you discover Skins? I started watching it about two years ago (2007) when it first came out. It wasn’t on dvd at the time so I had to hunt all over the internet for links to watch it. As much as I love the show I hope they never air it here because it would spoil it for me if everyone started liking it.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!

It’s available at Amazon.co .uk now?
You just made my day.
But quick question: To play the DVDs, do you need an all-regions DVD player or can it work on a regular region 1?
