Last night a good friend of mine told me that the half of Evanescence that Amy Lee kicked out of the group had recruited Idol contestant Carly Smithson formed their own band, The Fallen. “Pshaw!” I said. Like a total blockhead, I didn’t believe him until I saw this article today.

Anyway, this set off a disastrous train of thought. If this could happen to Evanescence (and Guns and Roses, Soundgarden, Blink-182, Rage Against the Machine, etc), IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE.

Even (and maybe especially) the superstars playing at the MMVAs this weekend.

Meet The Black Eyed Gaga. This group would be formed when Fergie pulls a coup d’etat and decides that the Peas need more girl power. She randomly boots Taboo from the group, in order to keep the number of peas in a pod at four. Lady Gaga consequently makes them all wear Mickey Mouse ears and go pants-less in their next video.

In a world where Ryan, Mike, and Daniel get tired of Chad stealing the spotlight and getting to do all the interviews all the time, they take his Nickle back and recruit Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench, who brings some much needed youth and comic antics to their stadium-rock sound. Mariana’s Nickleback proceeds to attract a rabid new teenage demographic, and gets to do the soundtrack for Zac Efron‘s next movie.

When Future-Nathan-Ferraro leaves the rest of The Midway State behind to launch a singer-songwriter solo career (you never know) asks Shiloh to join them, and liven up their piano-based melodies with a kick in the pop-punk. Three weeks later, Shiloh has the whole band dying their hair various popsicle hues.
