SoundSpeed like Celine Dion, green walls and Studz

May 26th, 2010

SoundSpeed

Five out six members from the Toronto based rock group SoundSpeed are actors from Degrassi. And if you’re thinking that being on one of the best shows on TV today is the reason these dudes made it onto yesterday’s MOD, or how they scored their gig tonight at the infamous Opera House in Toronto, you’d be wrong. Wrong-o. Nah uh. Nope.

SoundSpeed, made up of Raymond Ablack, Dalmar Abuzeid, Jamie Johnston, Scott Paterson, Shane Kippel, and Sean Farquharson, are almost all entertainment industry vets. That being said, they know better than most bands that if you ain’t got it, you ain’t makin’ it. And SoundSpeed has definitely got it.

The band released their much anticipated EP SoundSpeed Hello! in January and are debuting somewhere between 6 and 19,000 new songs at their gig tonight. Still working on the set list, I guess. SoundSpeed have released two full length tracks that you can listen to right hurre on their MySpace page, which display the efforts of a band that sound much more polished and talented beyond their years.

In the extremely serious and professional interview below we discuss world issues such as:
- The colour of the wall behind SoundSpeed
- Are Degrassi peeps show offs?
- Celine Dion vs. Shania Twain
- Justin Timberlake and Morgan Freeman (BTW, the movie was Edison Force, we were all wrong.)
- What happens when you do Kanye’s work out plan?
- Jumping in unison.

Get used to seeing these dudes on MuchMusic. Methinks Degrassi has another uber-talented musical act to add to their alumni list. See?! Show offs. Told ya.

Check out more pics from SoundSpeed when they stopped by MOD right hurre.
