All’s far in love and war….and for the super rich! It’s the love triangle that sparks wars with your friends and lengthy discussions on who our heroes or heroines should ultimately end up with (can anyone explain how Team Edward and Team Jacob came into existence? EXACTLY!).
And today is no different. With one week before the fourth season premiere of Gossip Girl make sure you’re fully prepped to take down fellow fans with exactly the right facts explaining who should end up with who. Don’t miss the season premiere Monday September 13 @ 8PM ET on Much!
Now for a show that’s practically paired each character with each other already let’s see the love triangle of Serena+Nate+Dan.
Serena van der Woodsen desperately needs our help. As a constant target of Gossip Girl’s blog her private life between Nate Archibald and Dan Humphrey is under constant watch (usually by her on-again, off-again BFF Blair Waldorf). She’s the wild girl who likes to party hard, sip champagne, pose for the paparazzi and then pay for it the next day. But underneath her drunken binges she doesn’t like being the Queen Bee. Deep down she is sweet and nice and tries to prove she’s more than just her name. But Gossip Girl needs to create scandal, and Serena’s caught in her bull’s-eye.

Option A: Dan Humphrey is your everyday boy next door. He’s content to be himself – smart but not exactly popular, honest but not exactly moral. He always manages to get invited (or crash) the right parties and remain himself. He was the perfect guy for Serena to turn too once she turned her life around. They met by chance but took things slow and were there for each other when things got rough. And they were in really in love. And I mean capital L-O-V-E kinda love. Serena even asked her mom Lily who was in love with Dan’s father to give up their relationship so Serena could have hers. WOW! But here’s the downside: Dan has issues he can’t cope with – the “van der Woodsen” name. Well, that and the fact she constantly withholds information about things she thinks she can’t trust her boyfriend with. They tried to deal with it, but Serena can’t change that she’s a blueblood (comes from money) and Dan can’t change the fact he isn’t.

Option B: This brings us to Nate Archibald. He has no problem with Serena’s name ’cause he’s also a blueblood. But the Archibald name has been dragged through the mud because of his daddy’s shady business deals and imprisonment. But he’s tried to distance himself from that life and forge his own path and make his own way as himself. He’s actually a lot like Dan in that way because even though he comes from money he hates that society. He was a childhood friend of Serena’s and is also pretty friendly (unlike his conniving BFF Chuck Bass). But he also has the same problem as Dan with Serena. She keeps things from him that she should be telling him, and that’s what wrecks the relationship. She hid her past with Georgina Sparks from Dan, and she’s kept the facts about her father from Nate. Which has now devastated Nate to the point he’s channeling his inner Chuck – and that’s never good!
Serena needs to seriously learn she can’t keep things from her man. She’s got to figure out which guy to trust – the nice poor guy or the nice rich guy and actually trust him.
Personally I vote for Dan Humphrey for the win because I think Serena would be better off with someone who’s not a blueblood (plus I’m always a fan of pairing up the original couple on a show: go Buffy and Angel!).
