But Blake Lively’s got it all figured out – she’s taking Hollywood by storm. Fingers crossed she gives Serena some tips as Gossip Girl’s favourite target opens the fifth season in tinseltown too!

Blake Lively is channelling her inner Serena by stepping out of NYC and hitting up movie studios left, right and center. Already, she’s starred in a superhero movie – she was Carol Ferris to Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern this past summer.

She got rave reviews for The Town at last year’s TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) and is in Canada again to promote the Las Vegas set “Hick” opposite Chloe Moretz, Alec Baldwin and Rory Culkin. Plus we’ll see her in the Oliver Stone-directed crime-drama “Savages” alongside Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson next year.

And you, the teen fans of the show, awarded Blake Lively the “Teen Choice TV Actress-Drama” surfboard this summer!

But she’s not all work and no play. She ended the summer enjoying a weekend-getaway to Australia to celebrate her 24th birthday in the same country with a certain actor-she-may-or-may-not-be-dating-cause-they-won’t-confirm-it-yet-for-some-reason (let’s call him Beonardo Licaprio). The actor took time off from filming his latest movie to take her to dinner and the zoo to celebrate.

In case you partied a little too hard over the summer, here’s what our favourite blonde socialite was up to last season. Serena started out the year figuring out what she wanted to do with her life, but kept getting screwed over by the newbie to their group, Juliet Sharpe. Why? It turns out Serena ruined Juliet’s brother’s life and didn’t even know about it. When the truth finally revealed itself, Juliet’s brother Ben was accused of rape behind Serena’s back by the other Ms. Van der Woodsen, Lily.

What do you do after your alleged rapist is set free? For Serena, she (of course!) dates him. But Ben’s family is still out for revenge, and discovers Lily could lose her company if this secret comes out. Cue Serena making things worse by giving all her fam’s secrets to Ben, who indirectly hands them over to his mother, who directly hands them over to Lily’s business competition, Russell Thorpe.

But Russell gets his in the end and fails to sabotage the van der Woodsens, and Ben takes his family far away from Serena so he can start over somewhere else as an innocent man. Since Serena is single and unhappy, she can’t let her best friend have all the glory when Blair announces her engagement, and tries to sabotage her. But it blows up in her face, and Blair forgives her anyways.

Finally, Serena takes her newly discovered cousin Charlie under her wing and exposes her to the high-maintenance and deadly (she shows her how to use the Gossip Girl website to one’s advantage) lifestyle of the Upper East Side.
