Stars @ The Queen Elizabeth Theatre

December 15th, 2008

This past Saturday, December 13, Stars finished off the last of three Toronto shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Although the venue was reserved seating, as soon as the band walked on stage Torquil Campbell march right downstage and ordered us all to stand and come to the front. The night started here and no one stopped until the end.

The stage was decorated with flowers that the band would throw into the audience throughout the show; something they’ve been doing for almost a year now. Amy Millan’s voice was sweeter then honey and Torq was the most passionate I’ve ever seen him. Not only do I mean in how he danced and sang with all his might, but also in how he loudly voiced his opinion, dedicating songs to the Coalition of Canada and bad mouthing not only the government and the Prime Minister, but the Queen (in her ‘own’ theatre, no less!). Torq also praised at program for at risk youth called the Blake Boultbee Youth Outreach Service, who were at the show collection donations. (Please check them out here!)

Stars love Canada and they want everyone to know it. They also love being at home. They declared Toronto their “favourite city in the world,” and us the “best audience in the world,” as many of their family and friends were there that night. They were humble and very thankful for all the support through the years, still surprised at the number of people coming to their shows.

All in all it was a fantastic show! I have nothing but love for Stars, and if you have yet to fall for them yet, check them out (Myspace). May I hint at the idea of their albums for holiday gifts?

Here’s the setlist (Thanks to my friend’s brother Markus)!

Happy New Year!
