Hey there, I’m Jessica, a producer at MuchMusic - just back from 3 days in Edmonton with Canada’s hot new band, Stereos. The stars of disBand recently returned to the city of all things oil and Oilers for a triumphant homecoming gig and very special presentation. They played the famed Starlight Room for a sold-out show and in front of diehard fans, newcomers, friends and family were given their very first gold record for the over 20,000 (and counting) downloads of their smash hit “Summer Girl”. The guys were genuinely surprised and really moved especially to be sharing the moment with that audience. The show rocked too! They are really tight live and if you like “Summer Girl” then brace yourself, they have a stack of tracks in their back pockets, which are just as addictive.

Next we took a tour around town visiting some of the old Stereos’ haunts like where lead singer Pat worked his first job; a fast food joint somewhat suggestively called Taco Town. (Or is it just me making the suggestion?) The manager of which did not only not recognize our star, she also did not like MuchMusic filming… we got shut down! Shut down in an Edmonton taco shop!

We hit the West Edmonton Mall to see how long it would take before the hometown heroes were recognized (FYI about 5 seconds). The ladies love these dudes evidenced by the reaction they received at a school that same day. It was like something out of A Hard Day’s Night. Or for you younger kids who may not get my Beatles reference, like something out of a Jonas Brothers movie. No word of a lie, Robb, Pat, Dan, Miles and Aaron were MOBBED by screaming teenage girls and even a few dudes who also think Stereos are cool. Heck even I was being asked for photos and autographs just because I know them! It was truly b.a.n.a.n.a.s!

Lucky for you Stereos fans we got it all on tape. See Stereos’ Edmonton homecoming antics on MuchMusic starting Monday, July 6 as the boys co-host MOD and are reunited with their ridiculously adorable band dog, Elvis. It really is a privilege to be witness to a band at this stage in their career, when everything is clicking and exciting and happening for the first time. MuchMusic is capturing all the golden moments of this band on the rise, in real time and when the artist actually wants your cameras around! I’ve no doubt there is so much more to come. Stay tuned!
