Set to be one of the first hot parties of 2008 from local promo team Pink Mafia, the Steve Aoki & Uffie double bill had everybody waiting anxiously for miss Uffie’s highly anticipated Toronto debut. But alas, for the second time in a row, the self-proclaimed, “crazy brat that doesn’t give an uff”, refused to show. We hear the party in Montreal
kept our little Uffie rockin so hard that she missed the bus.
Aoki, on the other hand, once again threw down a crazy set with all the blood, sweat and fun that have made his parties world renowned. Hailing from Los Angeles, Aoki is a professional party animal and wants you to join in on the fun. The show took place at Toronto’s newest club venue, Tattoo Rock Parlour and it was perfect. An unpretentious vibe that welcomed everybody from Toronto’s seen and be seen to the youngest party kids.
Halfway through the show amid Uffie’s rumoured no-show, everybody’s favourite boys in black, Toronto’s own MSTRKRFT, took the stage. As usual, surrounded by their loyal posse and ready to rock anytime anywhere, these guys brought the house down.
Aoki and MSTRKFT, hot off world tours and both set to release highly anticipated sophmore albums this year, have more than proven that electro-rock is here to stay. They played an amazing dual set and kept everybody dancing and fist pumping ’till the lights came on. These guys are very serious about fun and have the integrity to prove that they are professional party animals (we wish we could say the same for Miss Uffie)!
