If you’ve just started uni this week, it’s not too late to switch schools as the University of Virginia is now offering a course on Lady Gaga.
Taught by a graduate student named Christa Romanosky, “GaGa for Gaga: Sex, Gender, and Identity” is a prerequisite to essay writing on how Lady Gaga pushes social boundaries with her art. And judging by the description of it, it sounds like everything you would want it to be.
“Students will listen to Gaga’s music and watch her music videos, but also read about her influence on feminism and gender expression.” See! What more could you want?
“We’re exploring how identity is challenged by gender and sexuality and how Lady Gaga confronts this challenge,” Romanosky told The Cavalier Daily. “She’s in style, she’s smart and she’s powerful. Girls want to be her. Some guys want to be her. She has an alter ego. She’s not afraid to be herself, which seems to be completely amorphous and reinvented at every curve in the road.”
