Summer is when things heat up and hook ups are bound to happen – musical ones, that is! In the past few months, we’ve seen some of the hottest artists right now team up for some of the summer’s biggest hits. Summer Wrap has the top five collabs cued up for you — hit play and dance one last time before fall kicks in!
Calvin Harris + Ne-Yo = Let’s Go
Everything Calvin Harris does turns into collab gold — from We Found Love with Rihanna to Bounce with Kelis, it feels like everything the Scottish DJ does becomes a bonafide dance hit. The summer had its fair share of Harris collabs, but Let’s Go featuring R&B star Ne-Yo has got to be the winner. Between Ne-Yo’s powerhouse voice and Harris’ pop-perfected beats, Let’s Go was an appropriate jam anywhere – from the beach to the clubs!
David Guetta + Sia = Titanium
Similarly to Calvin Harris, superstar DJ David Guetta is a pro at all-star collabs. On Titanium, Guetta hooks up with indie-turned-pop-star Sia for a track that’s not as high energy as most of Guetta’s hits, but equally as (if not more) catchy than his other singles. The song is deceptive, though – it starts off with a simple riff and a steady beat but explodes into a Guetta-esque club jam during the chorus, showing both the soft and hard sides of Guetta. We love it!
Maroon 5 + Wiz Khalifa = Payphone
Last summer we got Moves Like Jagger featuring Christina Aguilera; this year, Maroon 5 delivers another hit collaboration on Payphone featuring hip-hop wizkid Wiz Khalifa. Payphone isn’t a dance jam by any means, but it’s still a summer jam in the sense that it’s just a damn good pop song that we couldn’t get out of our heads for months. Looking forward to what those guys bring us next year!
Jennifer Lopez + Pitbull = Dance Again
Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull are the perfect summer match. Last year, they teamed up for the hit On the Floor and this year, they’re back again with Dance Again. And things are even hotter this time around and not only because J.Lo’s boyfriend Casper Smart dances alongside to pop star in the glittery video! This track definitely made us dance all summer!
Fun. + Janelle Monae = We Are Young
Yes, this song’s been out for quite some time already and while Fun.’s other single, Some Nights was climbing the charts all summer, We Are Young was still very much on the top of everyone’s playlists. This fantastic collab with Janelle Monae is now a modern pop classic but our only complaint? Not enough Janelle Monae!Tweet
