So You Think You Can Dance is changing things up this season! First order of biznass – bring back former contestants! The US version of the show will now only have 10 finalists instead of the usual 20 and only one dancer will be sent packin’ each week, instead of one female and one male. Additionally, dancers will be partnered will contestants from previous seasons! Which OG’s (original gangsta’s) will be showing us their purdy steps again? The list is out! I have created a cheat sheet to remind y’all who these peeps are…because frankly, I had forgotten some.
Nah nah nah nah! So You Think You Can Jump, jump, jump, jump…
Stephen “tWitch” Boss – Made it to Hollywood week in Season 3 and was beaten by Hok Konishi. tWitch placed second in Season 4. Seemed like a really nice dude.
Comfort Fedoke – Remember everyone making the ‘For Real’ symbol but putting four fingers on their shoulder in Season 4? Comfort started that. She was eliminated in week 5, but brought back when another contestant was injured with a broken rib. She was eliminated again in week 7, meaning that Comfort is the only contestant to be eliminated twice in one season. What a craptacular record to hold.
Courtney Galiano – Courtney was the perky brunette from Season 4 that danced like Britney Spears.
Anya Garnis – Anya was the Russian born Latin ballroom dancer who performed on Season 3. Little known fact – Anya is the first contestant ever to be put on Mary Murphy’s Hot Tamale Train. So, we should blame Anya for all of Murphy’s screams?
Lauren Gottlieb – In Season 3 Lauren and her partner Dominic kissed at the end of the Rumba. Scandalishous!
Neil Haskell – Haskell was paired with Lauren Gottlieb for much of Season 3. I really don’t remember her much – probably not a good sign!
Allison Holker – I lurved watching Allison dance with partner Ivan during Season 2. These two were as cute as buttons and seemed to be having fun the entire time. I always wondered whether there was a little somethin’ somethin’ going on with them backstage, ya dig? It was pretty shocking when Allison was eliminated and I’m looking forward to seeing her amazin’ness again this season!
Mark Kanemura – Mark always confused me a bit. The judges seemed to pour giant bottles of Haterade over him every week, but I thought he was purdy good. His routine with Chelsie Hightower to Bleeding Love was ridonkulous and even nominated for an Emmy.
Pasha Kovalev – Pasha auditioned for Season 3 with his real-life dance partner Anya Garnis, who was also one of the contestants returning for Season 7. The two later choreographed a routine for Season 5. Great dancer, but watching a ballroom dancer do hip hop is pretty dang awkward.
Kathryn McCormick - Kathryn placed third in Season 6 and received the most votes for a female, so ya, she’s good.
Ade Obayomi - Ade is probably best remembered for consistently dancing with a pick in his hair. Why, Ade, why?
Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval - Dominic first appeared on Season 3 of SYTYCD and later showed off his b boy skills as part of QUEST, the winning crew on Season 3 of America’s Best Dance Crew.
Are you excited for Season 7 of SYTYCD?
