T.I. sued for showing dead corpse on television

February 14th, 2011

T.I. just can’t catch a break.

From getting arrested for possession just months after getting out of jail, to having to push back and rename his album to receiving solitary confinement for getting “frisky” with his wife inside, the Atlanta rapper is having a pretty difficult year.

And things just got a little worse for him, as T.I., along with MTV and the Haugabrooks Funeral Home, is now being sued for showing a dead man’s corpse on his reality TV show, T.I.’s Road to Redemption.

According to the lawsuit, in an episode titled “You Are Responsible for Your Own Actions,” T.I. took viewers to the funeral home and showed the corpse, revealing that the deceased was a hustler who kept his life secret from his family. Umm, not anymore.

The family of the deceased, Joseph Williams, claim that seeing him caused mental distress and are accusing the funeral home of falsely claiming that ehy “didn’t know what happened to their son.” They are suing for displaying Williams’ body “for financial gain and publicity,” seeking an unspecified amount of damages for mental anguish.
