News for Wednesday: Famous People Like Presents Edition

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

* If you were super-excited when Adam Lambert signed a record deal, well, you’ll probably be less excited to hear that fellow Idol alum Allison Iraheta has also snagged herself a deal - with Kris Allen’s label.

* This just in: Britney Spears is dating her agent, who is hopefully NOT a Womanizer. I know, bad joke, I’m sorry. Oops I did it again?

* Haven’t you always wanted to smell like a rapper? Well, soon you’ll be able to, with Fifty Cent’s new men’s fragrance, “Power“.

* Proof that good things come to those who wait (for thirty years): Anvil, a reaaallly infamous Toronto metal band, are gonna be opening two AC/DC shows this summer.

* Study hard, play music harder, and one day you too can have your own holiday in Bruno, Saskatchewan, just like Julie Doiron.

News for Tuesday: Disbelief Edition

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

* American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert admits to Rolling Stone that he’s gay. Shock and awe overcomes North America.

* It’s a big week for break ups: Selena Gomez has split from Twilight star Taylor Lautner, and Miley Cyrus and her ex Justin Gaston are also on the train to Heartbreakville. Boo-hoo.

* Radiohead fan? The band have made the second disk of B-sides from their mind-melting In Rainbows LP available to the rest of the world via their website. Well go on, get excited!

* Sammy Hagar fans out there can stop being excited about Guitar Hero: Van Halen right about now: he’s not in it. My condolences to the three of you.

* Not only is he already in the jailhouse, but now DMX is getting a bad rap from starting prison food fights. Someone didn’t listen when his mother said not to play with his food.

News for Monday: New Friends, Fights, and Funky Ones

Monday, May 25th, 2009

* If you care: Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart are capable of a) eating Italian food, b) sitting down in restaurants, c) talking to each other. Like regular people who work together on Twilight vampire movies, and not necessarily people who are dating (back off Stewart; he’s mine).

* Spencer Pratt won’t fight you, because he’s the most famous person in the world. Isn’t that great? I’d best go find a way to buy a copy of I’m A Celebrity so he doesn’t stop being famous and come attack me…

* Reason #376 why I have started sleeping with the lights on: LFO are reuniting.

* Canadian Music fans rejoice: the Hillside Festival line-up has been announced, and it is looking sweet. The downside: tickets are already half-sold-out.

* Fans of American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert shouldn’t feel so bad for the guy; word is Queen (Queen!) is thinking about recruiting him as their new front man. Dude may be good, but I dunno, that’s an awfully large role to fill…

I Know I Talked Smack About Kris Allen, But…

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

…maybe he proved me wrong last night on American Idol. I didn’t watch the whole show, but I heard that most performances were pedestrian. Adam did so-so with his versions of U2’s “One” and Aerosmith’s “Cryin’” and I don’t even know what Gokey did. Alls I knows is that Kris Allen may have earned himself a one way ticket to the hot tamale train (oops, wrong show) finale with his surprising rendition of Kanye West’s “Heartless” - turning the track into an acoustic game changer.

What do you think - good enough to make it a Lambert/Allen finale?

Worst: Paula’s Performance or No More Allison?

The truth is I don’t really watch American Idol, but I know a thing’er two about a thing’er two. And what I do know is the result of last night’s show was something of a TRAVESTY. When you’ve got a raw talent like Allison before you, what you do is VOTE FOR HER INSTEAD OF KRIS ALLEN. I know you think he’s cute or whatever, but can he really sang or perform better than Allison? Is he really more enigmatic? Not that I’ve chosen favourites or anything, and not that I put $2,000 on an Adam/Allison finale, but I’m just sayin’.

Thoughts?! Kris and Danny supporters, show yourselves and talk smack to me.
