Canadian Talent + Half Decade = WIN!

In case you haven’t already noticed, MuchMusic LOVES Canadian bands. I too love Canadian bands. In fact, I truly believe that Canadian bands trump all American, Scottish (-FF), Aussie, and even El Salvadorian bands. I mean, we seriously have so much talent, whether it is recognized worldwide or not.
The point that I’m really getting at is… if you take (in my opinion) the five best Canadian albums of the past 5 years and compare them to some popular albums from the places listed (especially El Salvador), it is clear that we pwn those n00bs. To give you a tasteling of what I mean, I invite you to search up, listen to, and love the best five Canadian albums of the past five years! >:]

Final Fantasy vs. The Rain
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009When I say Final Fantasy most would think of the video game. I think of Owen Pallett, the talented Torontonian musician who works magic with his violin and looping machine. He has arranged the strings on various albums including Arcade Fire, Beirut, and more
Not too long ago he played at the Hillside festival in Guelph and I missed it. Luckily enough this amazing video has surfaced on YouTube, capturing a moment that has given me chills. Chills because AH! there is so much rain and other kind of chills you get when you hear an amazing song and see how determined an artist can be to his craft. Just think how many others would have just walked off stage and complained.

News for Tuesday: Actors, Accessories, and Apologies. Awww…
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009* Actor Dom Delouise, an important part in everyone’s childhood, from his roles in (among other things) A Troll in Central Park, Fievel Goes West, The Secret of NIMH, and Spaceballs, passed away last night at the age of 75. I haven’t been this upset since Fievel fell off the train and we all thought he’d never see his family again… =(
* Christina Aguilera will be staring in a “Burlesque” film. No, really, it’s not what you think. Okay, nevermind, it probably is.
* James Bond and the Dalai Lama are going to help some hot English royalty to try and save the rain forest. Huh, I didn’t think you could save anything with explosions.
* Katy Perry has swine flu bling. No joke. I think she is ignoring the seriousness of the situation (but then again, so am I).
* Flaming Lips front-dude Wayne Coyne has formally apologized for insulting the Arcade Fire.
