Coldplay Admits Their New Album Kinda Sucks, But Rihanna Track Is A True Gem

October 21st, 2011

In his own words, Chris Martin said of their new album Mylo Xyloto, “we know our lyrics are a bit shit“. Looking for some positive highlights from the album, he did say he really liked the lyrics for the track Charlie Brown and that the best part of the album was the collaboration with Rihanna [...]

Coldplay release their video for Paradise

Coldplay release their video for Paradise

October 20th, 2011

Coldplay’s second video off Mylo Xyloto may not be what you’d expect from the Englishmen, but as with all Coldplay videos it’s safest to expect the unexpected. Rather than linger too heavily on the melancholy lyrics and musical arraignment of Paradise, Coldplay have lightened up the subject matter by dressing up in elephant costumes. At [...]

Does Coldplay + Rihanna = Instant Hit Or Epic Fail?

October 17th, 2011

Either Coldplay does it for you or they don’t. Ditto Rihanna. But someone out there thought – hey, let’s put these two together. And the best collaborations sometimes come from the most unlikely of pairs. So where does that leave Coldplay and Rihanna? Check out their track “Princess Of China” and tell me in the [...]

Coldplay conquer MuchMusic

September 22nd, 2011

Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto must translate into concert of the decade. The magic of the night’s evening was palpable as the Grammy winning band hit the stage literally moments after a day of non-stop rain did indeed stop. The air was warm, the energy was high, and the crowd was ready for the biggest band in the world. And boy, they were ready for us.

Coldplay give fans a night to remember at MuchMusic

September 21st, 2011

We promised you this would be the concert of the year. We lied. It was the concert of the decade. Coldplay brought the house down (which is uber difficult to do in a parking lot) and played fan favourites as well as sneak peeks from their soon-to-be released Mylo Xyloto. The band stopped the rain long enough for fans to dance beneath the M and X’s and fireworks. They’re just that good.

Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Johnny Buckland and Will Champion were inspiring, exciting and humble and we couldn’t have asked for a better show. Check out pics from Rogers Presents: Live In The Lot With Coldplay after the jump and re-watch the magic online right now!

Much Staff Picks: Life After Yellow

September 21st, 2011

I couldn’t tell you what I wore the first day of high school. I don’t remember the first time I met some of my closest friends. I can’t pinpoint the moment when I started giving country music a chance. But the memory of hearing Coldplay’s Yellow for the first time in my life is as [...]

Video Vault: Who wants to be compared to Coldplay?

September 20th, 2011

In September 2002, Coldplay had just released their sophomore album A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Proving they weren’t a one-album wonder, the bands second album shifted their position in the pop rock world, even making them a group others aspired to be compared alongside.

MuchMusic VJ Bill Welychka caught up with Chris Martina and Johnny Buckland to speak candidly with Coldplay’s frontman and guitarist about the new album and how people reacted the disc.

Check out the clips under the jump and watch Rogers Presents: Live In the Lot With Coldplay this Wednesday at 9 pm ET on MuchMusic and MuchMusic.com!
