Weezer are just a couple of Poker Faced Kids

Monday, July 13th, 2009

As you may or may not know, I’m a big fan of quality covers, so when I heard that Weezer covered MGMT’s Kids mixed in with Lady Gaga’s Poker Face I freaked out a little. In a good way, you know cus I was so excited to hear it. Music video time!

Wasn’t that just a barrel of monkeys? So much fun. You can always count on those Weezer boys for a good ol’ time.

I Know I Talked Smack About Kris Allen, But…

…maybe he proved me wrong last night on American Idol. I didn’t watch the whole show, but I heard that most performances were pedestrian. Adam did so-so with his versions of U2’s “One” and Aerosmith’s “Cryin’” and I don’t even know what Gokey did. Alls I knows is that Kris Allen may have earned himself a one way ticket to the hot tamale train (oops, wrong show) finale with his surprising rendition of Kanye West’s “Heartless” - turning the track into an acoustic game changer.

What do you think - good enough to make it a Lambert/Allen finale?

And who told Michelle Branch she could come back from wherever she was long enough to get her hands on Joni Mitchell’s material? But I digress…..

Here’s the link to check out The Flaming Lips covering Madonna’s “Borderline” which is nothing but afternoon sweetness.

Earworm of the Day: Madcon - Beggin’

Have you seen this Adidas house party commercial yet? Missy Elliott, David Beckham, Katy Perry, Estelle and a bunch others make appearances.

Pretty sick, right? (Despite the “be original” message, while the whole commercial is filled with only Adidas, natch). But the best thing to come out of this ad is the song, which I will now break down for you…
