New information related to DJ AM’s tragic death was released over the weekend. Reportedly, the DJ, born Adam Goldstein, was last heard of via a text message he sent to friends at 1 a.m. the night before his body was found. It was about his Friday night gig in Las Vegas. Friends called 911 after Goldstein couldn’t be reached around the time he was supposed to fly out.

An autopsy was conducted on Saturday night, but toxicology tests will take a few weeks to determine the cause of death. There has been speculation that DJ AM died of a drug overdose.

Goldstein had just finished a show with MTV called “Gone Too Far,” where he held interventions for teens with drug problems. While promoting the show, DJ AM reflected on the plane crash he survived with Travis Barker in September ‘08. He told the Associated Press in July, “I’m blessed. I’m alive. I’m here.” He was 36 years old.
