I guess if you could sum up day 2, it would go down as the day that was too freezing to be August. And also again: where was the crowd? And also also: kind of an improvement over day 1. Wellll, here’s the thing. Move Grizzly Bear and Franz Ferdinand to day 2, and we’ve got ourselves a winner.

If you’re a VFest fan/follower/loyal participant/lover, then you know the story by now: Ontario’s festival was to be moved from Toronto Island to Burl’s Creek, where camping and hippie-like festivities were to take place. Unfortunately, due to low ticket sales and a general lack of enthusiasm, the organizer’s decided to move el festival-o back to Toronto - but this time at Molson Amphitheatre.
A crack team of music enthusiasts and part time assassins scoped out the scene only to discover that attendance was lacking (although it filled out for Nine Inch Nails) and it turns out that the vibe was way less drunken festival-y and way more tipsy do-gooder. Still, a pleasant and even awesome time was had by all.
Read our thoughts on some sets on day 1 AND check out our snazzy gallery featuring pics of Franz Ferdinand, Grizzly Bear, Sloan and the Pixies after the jump!

There are lots of great ways to spend a long weekend Sunday in Halifax, but on August 3rd, hitting Rockfest on Citadell Hill was the perfect decision. Between the weather, the location and the music, it was a perfect lawn-chillin’, laidback-rockin’ afternoon.
Sloan, Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace and Chickenfoot were on the bill and while supergroup Chickenfoot certainly sold the most t-shirts and earned the headline title, it was the ever-loved and ever-awesome Sloan and Our Lady Peace that turned out the crowds and had the Hill rocking - insert mental image of Haligonians joining the NSP (No Shirts Party).

Oasis are not impressed by your attitude.
This weekend I bought myself some tickets to V-Fest Ontario, up at Burl’s Creek Farm in Oro-Medonte (it’s just north of Barrie). So now, I’m trying to learn-up about what I should expect/avoid at a festival, since I’ve never been to one before (oh Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds Festival(s), why are you so far away?). And I’ve found some things I wouldn’t have expected. Based on recent news, here are three reasons this festival could be a scary, scary place.
#1: Fashion? The New York Times went out and did a whole fashion spread of artists all dressed up at Coachella. I guess that means no one is worried about mud, like in the U.K. I guess that’s the fans, anyway. These photos are seriously awesome (and done in black and white), you should see! Just don’t expect me to dress that way!

Warped Tour just stormed through Toronto (Mississauga) like a whirling dervish and celebrated its 15 year anniversary in the process. This was the 11th Warped for me personally and there were a few notable changes this year, as well some traditional mainstays. This was the first Toronto Warped I’ve been to that’s been on a weekday, thereby making it difficult for many common folk to make it to the show. There was also only one main stage and one second stage, whereas in the past you would see a pair of both so there was constantly music playing by the bigger bands. Punk Rock juggernauts like NOFX and Bad Religion were what made the day feel more like a traditional Warped Tour.

So kick off your crocs, put your feet up and relax as we recap the glory that was Warped Tour ’09. Be sure to Czech out the massive photo gallery containing snaps from your favourite bands like Alexisonfire, Chiodos, Lights, Gallows, A Day To Remember, Bad Religion, NOFX, Silverstein, Anti-Flag and the list goes on…
All of this and more shenanigans after the jump.

The line-up for the 32nd edition of Britain’s most coveted (and most drunken) summer music festival has been announced. This morning organizers for the always mud-soaked Glastonbury Festival revealed the massive roster of artists playing this year’s event. The three nights will feature the likes of Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band and Blur as the main headliners on the Pyramid Stage.
