Fleet Foxes @ Massey Hall

You know when you over hype yourself for a show? You love the band so much and you are so excited that you count down the days until they hit the stage. You build up your expectations so high that it is near impossible for any performance to live up to that ideal that you have formed in your mind.

Last night Fleet Foxes exceeded my expectations. And then some.

Fleet Foxes trotted unto the legendary Massey Hall stage just after their “favorite band”, Swedish psychedelic folk fellows Dungen played their open slot set. The show was sold out so needless to say the place was packed. As the band welcomed and thanked us they began what was an incredible set.

I’m a big Beirut fan, and so when I missed their recent Toronto show I was upset to say the least. Bummed out. Sad. Not happy. Etc. Being this mix bag of emotions, I just had to ask my friend how the show was, for she was far more filled with luck then I. And what did she tell me when I asked her how it was?
